London Wolf and Cruz Lynx Lopez

WEDDING: Flores Zepeda/Correa: Celen Flores Zepeda and Adrian Correa were married May 11, 2013.

Celen, daughter of Jose M. Zepeda and Rachel Flores Zepeda of Hollister, is a 2003 graduate of San Benito High School and a 2007 graduate of Stanford University. She works at Google in Mountain View.

Adrian, son of Antonia Correa and the late Arturo Correa, is a 2002 graduate of San Benito High School. He graduated from California State University, Fresno and completed a master’s degree in structural engineering at Santa Clara  University in 2012. Correa works at J&R Engineering as a project engineer in Pleasanton.

The ceremony was held at Immaculate Conception Church in Tres Pinos. A reception followed at Jardines in San Juan Bautista. The couple honeymooned in Bali, Indonesia and reside in Willow Glen.

HONORS

James Lafuente

James Lafuente, of Gilroy, graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Culver-Stockton College during the 157th Annual Commencement exercises. Hundreds of family, friends, faculty and staff attended the ceremony, which was held outdoors on the campus of Culver-Stockton College, between Henderson Hall and Johnson Hall. James is the son of Mary and Gonzalo Lafuente of Gilroy.

Lucy Alvarez

Lucy Alvarez is Gavilan College’s Employee of the Month for April 2013. She is the Human Resources Technician and has been with Gavilan College since 2010.

For the past six months, Lucy has faced an enormous challenge of taking on additional responsibilities and workload due to the departure of her coworker. She is knowledgeable in the field of HR and can communicate information effectively with employees from the staff level to the executive level. Lucy provides a timely response to employees and students and goes above and beyond in the area of customer service. Her friendly and genuine desire to assist is a model for customer service. In addition, Lucy is an instrumental member of the Staff Recognition Committee, helping make the annual event a success.

Lucy recently received her associate’s degree in liberal arts behavioral and organization social sciences from Gavilan.

Tomasello, Scianna win competition

The Builders’ Exchange of Santa Clara County is pleased to announce Natalie Tomasello and Joel Scianna, both of Morgan Hill, as the winners of the 2013 June Simmons Memorial Scholarship Competition. Each will receive a grant to further their college education.

The June Simmons Memorial Scholarship Competition is for the member companies of the Builders’ Exchange, their employees and their families.

Ryan Costa

Ryan Costa, of Gilroy, graduated from the University of San Diego on May 26 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

The University of San Diego is a Catholic institution of higher learning committed to teaching, the liberal arts, the formation of values and the creation of ethical leaders.

Catherine Miller

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi announces that Catherine Miller, of Morgan Hill, was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Miller is pursuing a degree in liberal arts/humanities at San Jose State University.

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine and headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline honor society.

Maggie Cropp

Maggie Cropp, of Morgan Hill, a sophomore in the College of Liberal Arts, was named to the President’s List and Dean’s List of Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts for the spring 2013 semester. Inclusion on this list requires students to meet rigorous grade-point-average standards for the College of Liberal Arts.

Founded in 1833, Mercer University is a dynamic and comprehensive center of undergraduate, graduate and professional education.

Terence Murphy

Cadet Terence Murphy, son of Brian and Lori Murphy of Morgan Hill, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York on May 25.

Murphy graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory in 2008. While at West Point, he concentrated his studies in systems engineering. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Combat Engineer branch and will report to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. in August for his first assignment.

Second Lt. Murphy met up with former Bellarmine College Preparatory alum Cadet Anthony Graham for the traditional “First Salute.” Upon completion of the first salute, Second Lt. Murphy gave Cadet Graham the coveted silver dollar.

Brayden William Glines was born May 24, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose to Ben and Stephanie Glines. He weighed 9 pounds.

London Wolf and Cruz Lynx Lopez were born March 21, 2013 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital to Heather and Eric Lopez of Hollister. They weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces and 5 pounds, 6 ounces.
