opening of a small business development center in downtown
Gilroy.
The Gilroy Business Resource Coalition has announced the grand opening of a small business development center in downtown Gilroy.
The center will be located at the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce headquarters at 7471 Monterey St., and will celebrate its May 20 opening with a 7:30 to 9 a.m. reception followed by a 9 to 11 a.m. free workshop on small business financing.
According to a press release, the small business finance workshop will feature Carlos G. Mendoza, district director of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Fresno District Office.
Topics will include what the SBA is doing to increase lending to small businesses, and what microlenders can offer. Representatives from local lending institutions will also be in attendance to provide additional resources to attendees.

The Gilroy Business Resource Coalition is a partnership between the Gilroy Economic Development Corporation, the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce, the Gilroy Visitors Bureau and the Gilroy Downtown Business Association. In addition to monthly workshops made possible through Monterey Bay State University and the Small Business Administration, an onsite bilingual counselor will be available by appointment from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays at the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce.
