Gilroy High’s girls soccer team saw its season end in heartbreaking fashion Saturday, falling 4-3 on penalty kicks to Burlingame after the Central Coast Section Division II quarterfinal had been a scoreless tie at Garcia-Elder Sports Complex.

Third-seeded Gilroy ended the season 11-4-5 overall. Burlingame, the No. 11 seed, improved to 13-6-3 and will host St. Francis in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
