Christopher's Emma Morley competes for control of the ball with North Salinas during their game last season.

Carlene McPolin and Natalie Filippi scored second-half goals to help Christopher High’s girls soccer team run away with a 3-0 Monterey Bay League victory over visiting North Salinas on Friday.

The Cougars also benefited from a North Salinas own goal in the first half. Christopher goalkeeper Lauren Ginn posted a shutout to help the goals stand up.

Christopher dominated possession throughout, and the outcome was never in doubt.

“I thought Paulina Sanchez really controlled the middle today, and she really had it where she was getting everybody easy touches by her distributing the ball,” Cougars coach Chip Beardsley said. “Especially in the second half, I thought we really controlled the game, largely in part to Paulina Sanchez, who really distributed the ball well for us.”
