the championship Monday night.
It was only fitting that the Earthbound Farm Heat and the Dr. Tommy Tong Orthodontics Bandits battled for the Gilroy Little League Majors softball title.

The Heat constructed an early lead with singles by Maddie Cox, Lauren Castro, Morgan England and Xenia Jimenez, leading to three runs in the first inning.
However, the Bandits struck right back in their half of the first on Cynthia Delreal’s three-run double. Rebecca Reimal’s perfect bunt brought home Delreal to give the Bandits a 4-3 advantage after the first.
In the third, the Heat tallied three times on Pati Soria and Alli Hathaway doubles.
Anna Gamboa’s triple, followed by Mikayla Decker’s RBI brought the Bandits to within one in the last of the sixth, but their tying efforts were denied by Castro who closed the game with her 10th strikeout.
“The Bandits always play us tough, but our girls didn’t panic and played very well,” Heat manager Ed Castro said. “A great end to all the hard work they have put in.”
