Gilroy High’s varsity softball team was able to remain undefeated by winning the Half Moon Bay tournament Saturday.

The Mustangs rolled off victories over Carlmont, Milpitas, Woodside and then Carlmont again to take the title and push their record to 5-0.

Playing three games in three days Saturday, Gilroy defeated Milpitas 6-1, Woodside (score unreported) and Carlmont 8-0.

Just two days prior the Mustangs had beaten Carlmont, last year’s Central Coast Section runner-up, 6-4.

The second time around wasn’t nearly as close Caitlyn Pierotti, Sarah Lira and Jasmine Perez all hit home runs.

Lira, who batted 3-for-3 with two RBI, was a force for Gilroy pitching as well, limiting Carlmont to just three hits. Another hit was allowed on an error.

The team’s next game will be today at home against Presentation at 3:45 p.m.
