Mary Men’s Club at Las Animas Park.
GILROY – Solid Ground moved into a tie for first place in the Men’s E League second-half pennant chase Thursday with a 7-6 edging of St. Mary Men’s Club at Las Animas Park.
Joe Padilla went 3-for-3 and Gian Rossini added two singles as Solid Ground, the first-half EE League champion, moved to 3-1 in the second half.
St. Mary Men’s Club was limited to six singles, none after the third inning, in dropping to 2-1-1. Greg Sosebee accounted for two St. Mary hits.
Pray For Rain joined Solid Ground at 3-1 with a 24-6 decision over Ozzie’s Oddballs. Junior Gutierrez homered and doubled in a 13-run fifth inning for the Rain. Ray Garcia homered and Adrian Paco scored five runs for the winners. Daniel Contreras went 3-for-3 and scored three Ozzie’s runs.
Blackout Window Tinting upset the Titans 11-10 behind three hits from Alex Pena. Pena managed two hits in a seven-run fourth inning. Johnny Ramirez tripled and homered for 2-1-1 Titans.
Scott Larson capped a three-hit effort with a two-run home run in the seventh inning to lift 4-1 Radiator Doctor past HMI Thursday in Men’s EE play at gavilan Sports Park.
The decision moved Radiator Doctor into a tie for first place at 4-1 with the Slammers. HMI slipped to 3-1.
Henry Maquinalez Jr. lashed three hits and Henry Maquinalez scored three runs for Radiator Doctor. Manny Freitas hit two home runs and Shawn Cronk collected three hits for HMI.
The Slammers turned back the Good Ole Boys 22-3 behind a five-homer effort. Art Mancera and Joe Duran hit three-run homers, Andy Gutierrez a two-run poke and Maciel Urenda and David Espinoza solo blasts. Urenda went 4-for-4, Duran 3-for-3. Sean Schoeneman went 2-for-2 for Good Ole Boys.
