Red Phone

I live on the 8000 block of Westwood Drive and I notice there is no speed sign going toward Welburn. We get a lot of speeders and motorcycles. It’s terrible. They need to put a sign up. Thanks.
Red Phone:
Red Phone is happy to investigate this problem, good caller, because no one—including Red Phone—wants accidents in their neighborhood, and obviously, exceeding the speed limit can result in vehicle accidents.
The speed limit in residential neighborhoods in California is 25 mph, unless posted otherwise. Having said that, Red Phone contacted Gilroy City Traffic Engineer, Henry Servin about the situation on Westwood Drive.
“If there is a missing sign, please call him at (408) 846-0277,” he said. But Servin added, “Many residential communities do not have speed limit signs because no one wants a sign in front of their home.”
If you want to have a sign installed on your street, you can also call him and he will investigate.
However, Servin advised, “The best thing to do if you observe speeding is to report it to the police department with specific information such as day of the week and time of day so that the police can send a traffic policeman to the area to monitor the traffic.”
Red Phone hopes the provided information will result in safer driving on Westwood Drive.
