Each month, the principals of Gilroy and Christopher high schools choose a total of four students (two from GHS and two from CHS) to spotlight. GHS senior Megan Nebesnick, 17, is this week’s Student of the Week.
What inspires you?
It inspires me to see people, specifically athletes, achieve their goals. I am especially inspired by my mom’s motivational speeches before any athletic event. She inspires me to always do my best and keep my head held high whether I win or lose. Thanks Mom!
What is your favorite subject in school, and why?
My favorite subject in school is ANATOMY because I believe it is one of the most interesting classes and I am always eager to learn more. Because of this class, I also plan to be a nursing major in college. Thanks Spun!
If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?
If I had the power to change one thing in the world, it would be to completely get rid of bullying in schools. Bullying makes schools a toxic environment. Without it, school would be a more enjoyable place to be.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
If could go anywhere, I would want to go to the Caribbean because I love the beach environment.
Name one big challenge in your life right now:
The biggest challenge in my life right now is getting ready to go to college to ensure I am successful. I will be attending San Jose State in the fall and I am eager to see what new experiences college has in store for me.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is anything that involves helping people. I will become a nurse when I graduate college. I would also love to work in a gymnastics environment where I can help children realize their full potential and achieve their athletic goals.
If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things could you not live without?
If I was stuck on a deserted island, I would not be able to live without someone to talk to, Netflix or food.
Favorite book:
My favorite book is “A Child Called ‘It’” by David Peltzer.
What do you want to do after high school?
After high school, I will attend college and graduate with my nursing degree. After that I plan on applying my degree in the medical field. Also, I plan on starting a family because I was fortunate enough to grow up with a loving and caring family.
Something that makes you smile:
Something that makes me smile is when I see people achieve their personal goals. It also makes me smile when I see my siblings succeed in academics and athletics because they are very important to me.
