Morgan Hill – Despite being handicapped by poor night vision due to an eye injury suffered in last year’s race, former Morgan Hill resident Doug Swingley rallied his sled into the Top 10 midway through the Iditarod race in Alaska yesterday.

Swingley, who had to withdraw from last year’s race after suffering frozen corneas, was sitting in ninth place at the Iditarod checkpoint, which is about halfway between the 1,100-mile race’s starting line outside Anchorage and the finish in Nome.
