Sydney Brooker died May 16, 2004 in Gilroy.
He was 93.
Mr. Brooker was born on July 7, 1910, in Chicago, Ill.
For most of his life, he lived in Los Angeles. And, he really lived life.
On Oct. 1, 1950, he married Rosalyn. They loved each other for 53 years, and it won’t stop now.
On Jan. 5, 1953, Marcella was born. On Jan. 5, 1955, exactly two years later, Laura was born. Syd had very good timing.
Mr. Brooker was a film technician for several Hollywood studios before retiring in 1974. He made ”reversals,” which are copies of films used by editors. So, Mr. Brooker got to see the movies first.
In addition, during World War II, he was in the U.S. Army and taught aerial photography.
Mr. Brooker loved many things in this world. His family always came first – but, after that, he never missed ”60 Minutes,” was a great fan of Dean Martin, and never said ”no” to Roz’s stuffed cabbage. He was loved deeply by his wife, Rosalyn Brooker, by his daughters, Marcella Brooker and Dr. Laura Richards-Simmons, and by everyone else who knew him.
He left us in body, but not in spirit. ”Syd” loved to laugh. Even more, Syd loved to make others laugh. The laughter will never leave.
Mr. Brooker was buried at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.
