Mayor Steve Tate will serve another term after all 30 precincts were counted by 5 a.m. Wednesday showing Tate’s lead with 60 percent of the vote (4,092 votes) that neither of his opponents Art College (2,330 votes) nor Marby Lee (1,303) can match. In second place in the three-way race is Art College, with 2,330 or about 31 percent of the counted votes. Councilwoman Marby Lee, who is also running for mayor, currently has 1,303 or 17 percent of the votes.
In the leadup to today’s election, Tate has campaigned on his record the last four years as mayor, during which he boasted the construction of new city facilities and infrastructure. Tate, 66, also touted his experience with a total of 19 years of service to the city, including eight years as a council member.
