Dear Editor,
I am writing you regarding the article “Leaving No Child Behind.” The article totally brought down the credibility of the teachers at South Valley. I have two children who have attended that school and three more that will attend in the future. The two that have gone through have had very excellent teachers who look after their kids and help them when asked. If your child is having problems, just communicate with their teachers.
Believe me the teachers are willing to work with them if you just ask. Parents should step up and take hold of their child’s education. You are just as responsible for it as the teachers are. Get involved!!! And kids, don’t be afraid to ask for help, if you need it, just ask.
By giving the parents and kids the option of transferring to Brownell Academy, that’s the wrong thing. The district with their bright ideas will over crowd the school and make teaching impossible for the teachers and create more distractions for the students. Also, what about enough books and learning materials for the students?
Did the district think about that? More money will be going out in transportation. Isn’t the district complaining about not having enough money and didn’t they cut funds to transportation? So where’s the money coming from? Probably making more cuts to our kids’ education. So this will end up leaving all children behind.
A big cheer to the South Valley teachers. You have done great with my kids and I’m sure with many more students. According to my children’s scores that the district was so worried about, my children improved from last year and the one that graduates this year is still improving. Keep up the good work teachers. Don’t let that article discourage you.
