Gilroy – Steve Welsh turned two singles and a sacrifice fly into three RBI Thursday as the 2-0 Titans topped Solid Ground 10-6 in Men’s E League softball play at Christmas Hill Park.
Vic Vanni scored three runs and Ted Pickeral netted two singles and a sacrifice fly as the Titans maintained a share of first place in the seven-team league. Joey Costa came up with two singles for Solid Ground.
Heinzen Manufacturing joined the Titans at 2-0 with a 27-10 nod over St. Mary Men’s Club.
John Jimenez roped a grand slam, a triple and two singles to lead the Heinzen charge. Chris Soto homered and Mark Logan (4-for-4) homered for the winners. Javier Ramos scored four Heinzen runs. Shawn Shazanskis lined a triple and single, John Doyle a double and single for St. Mary Men’s Club.
Phil Ruiz socked a home run and two singles to propel NorCal Battle Brothers past Team EvMar 12-3. Greg Lugo added two doubles to the Battle Brothers offense. Eric Wischmann and Jared Reeve each posted two hits for Team EvMar.
The Long Shots powered past the Good Ole Boys 34-9 in Men’s EE competition at Gavilan Sports Park.
Jose Maciel delivered two home runs and two doubles for the Long Shots. Tony Leonardo and John Cordova each struck for five Long Shots hits. Bob Schoeneman went 4-for-5 for the Good Ole Boys.
