Gilroy – Tony’s Embroidery opened the Men’s EE League Championship Series Thursday with a 12-11 squeaker over 2NQ at Las Animas Park.

The second game of the best 2-of-3 series is tonight at Las Animas at 6:30pm.

Consecutive singles in the bottom of the seventh inning by Greg Lucio, Robert Muro, Anthony Lucio and Tracy Sustaita produced two runs to give the opener to Tony’s.

Jerry Johnston collected a triple and double for the winners. Eddie Cordia lashed a three-run home run, Paul Bianchi a two-run shot for 2NQ.

Pizza N’ Stuff began the Men’s D series with a 12-6 verdict over Gamers In Control Friday at Las Animas.

Duke Newton’s RBI-single helped Pizza N’ Stuff to four runs in the top of the first inning. Ernesto Salinas and Damian Haro stroked consecutive sacrifice flies and Javier Tovar plated a run with a single as Gamers In Control scored three runs in the second. John Perez hit a two-run single as Pizza N’ Stuff added three runs in the third stanza.

Fred Tovar went 3-for-3 for the Gamers.

Kluck University defeated Williams Dental Lab 19-15 in the Women’s B League opener Thursday at Las Animas.

Elena Garcia hit a three-run home run and Jessica Loza roped a triple and two singles, scoring three Kluck runs. Donna Simpson provided four singles and Melissa Howe added a double and two singles for Kluck. Celia Bonilla powered a home run and three singles, Cherie Somavia three singles and a walk for Williams Dental Lab.

Walton & Sons Masonry began the Men’s E post-season with a 20-15 decision over the Titans Thursday.

Walton & Sons expanded a 13-12 lead in the seventh inning with a seven-run outburst. John Serrine, Tim Graves and Albert Vega each delivered a double and two singles, scoring three Walton & Sons runs. Ian Hanley went 4-for-5. Steve Welch went 3-for-4 for the Titans.
