NCBGA Zone 1 Championships held on Saturday in Santa Cruz.
SANTA CRUZ – Local Class 6/7 gymnasts excelled as they participated in the NCBGA Zone 1 Championships held on Saturday in Santa Cruz.

The meet was a qualifier for participating in the NCBGA state meet to be held in Mountain View on March 20-21. Top achievers at the state meet will continue on to Region 1 Championships in Phoenix.

CLASS 6 (age12+)

In an outstanding showing, Kurtis Pedrazzi placed 1st on the pommel (8.4), 1st on the vault (9.45), 1st on the horizontal bar (9.45), 2nd on the floor exercise (7.75), 2nd on the rings (8.7), and 2nd on the parallel bars (8.8). His 1st place in the All Around (52.50) qualified him to compete in the NCBGA State meet later this month.

CLASS 6 (age 10-11)

Vanya Avilla placed 1st on the vault (9.35), 4th place on the floor exercise (8.25), 5th place on the rings (8.7), 6th place on the pommel (8.0), 8th place on the parallel bars (8.25), and 9th place on the horizontal bar (8.9). His 6th place in the all-around (51.45) also qualified him to compete in the NCBGA state meet.

CLASS 6 (age 7-8)

Gabriel Hatcher placed 2nd on the vault (9.4), 7th on the horizontal bar (8.85), and10th on the floor (8.25).

CLASS 7 (age 11+)

Darren Coates placed 1st on the pommel (9.2), 1st on the vault (8.9), 2nd on the floor (8.45), 2nd on the rings (9.0), 2nd on the parallel bars (9.1), and 2nd on the horizontal bar (8.4). His All Around score of 53.05 qualifies him to compete in the NCBGA State meet.
