Of the 14 athletes slated to participate, seven hold marks or times ranked in the Top 10 in the Central Coast Section – not counting the boys’ 4X100 relay, which holds the fastest time (42.76) and the 4X400 relay’s 3:28.23, which is good for the third fastest.
Teammates Sarina Sandoval (36 feet-09.75 inches) and Angeline Kimbo (36-03) hold the fourth- and- eighth-best distances, respectively, in the shot put while on the boys’ side, Cordero Gonzales has the seventh top throw at 47-9.5. Chima Ikeme in the discus is ranked No. 5 with his throw of148-08.
David Guenther holds two top-10 marks – fifth in the triple jump (44-01) and ninth in the long jump 21-06 – and will also run the 400-meter dash and the relay events. Jourdan Soares, who will also run on the relay squads, has the fifth-fasted time in the 100 (11.03), which he recorded at last weekend’s Bill Kearney, and currently holds the eighth-best in the 200 at 22.90. Julius Travis – eighth in the 100 (11.16) and Romeo Travis round out the relay runners.
The Top 8 meet is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. at Los Gatos High School.
