I just read the article regarding the 5-year-old child’s death. I have a 5-year-old and cannot imagine losing him to this.
I am sitting here on my busy street and wondering how we can generally slow traffic down in Gilroy. That is step one in creating safer streets for our babes.
The other suggestion I have for a quick fix is to place more signs up near that intersection to make it clear that there is not a “protected” left turn – and to remind drivers to watch for pedestrians.
I, too, have caught myself at that intersection a little confused as almost all other lights in Gilroy do provide this left turn signal. Gilroy needs to step up for our children and make it safe to be out and about!
