Gavrity’s RBI single ties score; Corona’s sac fly wins game in
5-4 victory
GILROY – Trevino Brothers Construction rallied past Ellite Barbers and Hair Stylists 5-4 Friday at Gavilan Sports Park to take sole possession of first place in the second-half Men’s D League pennant chase.

John O’Neil and Bobby Martin each singled and scored in the fifth inning to give Trevino the decision and a 2-0 record. Dan Gavrity’s single tied the score and Luke Corona won it with a sacrifice fly.

Matt Corona offered a single and triple to the Trevino Brothers Construction offense. Gosta Brolin singled and tripled for Ellite Barbers (1-1).

Dequin’s Auto Body snapped an 8-8 tie with four runs in the seventh to defeat Fritter-Schulz Physical Therapy-Humboldt Brewing 12-8. Al Vegas broke the tie with a two-run triple and Darren Newton followed with a run-scoring triple.

Newton went 5-for-5, Vegas 3-for-4 with four runs scored. Jose Ramirez homered and Sergio Diaz tripled and singled for the losers.

Mike McAvoy’s RBI-single capped an eight-run rally in the final half-inning as Team HJ-FX slipped past In The Zone 17-16. Skip Bloom went 4-for-4, Ray Portillo and McAvoy each 3-for-3 for the winners. John Orosco lashed a home run, triple and double, Leroy Martinez a single, double and triple for the Zone.

Bay Area Communications Loco Boys are 2-0 atop the Men’s EE League standings Thursday after a 6-5 squeaker over VFW Bingo at Christmas Hill Park. Kyle Kretz scored two Loco runs. Gabe Perez went 4-for-4 and Darrell Sciutto 3-for-4 for VFW Bingo.

Greg Lugo went 3-for-4 and scored one run as 2-0 Courtesy Chevrolet trimmed Solid Ground 6-5. Larry Reimal posted three hits and Art Webb followed with two hits and scored twice for Solid Ground.

Tim Graves went 2-for-3 and scored three runs in a 15-0 Radiator Doctor nod over the Good Ole Boys. Chris Fritter, Paul Iwanaga and Jeff Speno each singled for the Boys.

Cosa Nostra moved to 3-0 in Men’s DD play Friday at Christmas Hill by using eight runs in the sixth to stop Bomb Squad 9-4. Nick Franco’s RBI-double keyed the rally. Eddie Adame hit two doubles for the Bomb.

Mike Hernandez tripled home Sabastian Cabrera with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as 3-0 Aladdin Bail Bonds-Rhino Wiring edged the Hustlers 11-10. Sammy Lopez drove in four Hustler runs with a single, double and triple.

Scott Perkins swatted two homers and drove in seven runs to lead Los Chilotes past the Slammers 28-13. Mike Perry hit a pair of two-run singles for the Slammers.

The Titans moved to 2-0 in Men’s E action Thursday with a 14-12 win over Team Heinzen at Las Animas Park. Ted Pickeral went 5-for-5 and scored four Titan markers. Chris Soto went 3-for-5 and scored four Team Heinzen runs.

St. Mary Men’s Club is 2-0 after a 15-6 victory over the Martini’s. Christian Alonzo and Chris Wheat hit St. Mary homers.

Dave Slater capped a four-run seventh with a two-run single as Claddagh’s Brew Crew topped Blackout Window Tinting 10-8. Anthony Corral and Alex Pena each crunched three Blackout hits.

The Playaz improved to 2-1 in Men’s C play Friday at Las Animas with an 8-6 decision over Dee’z Nutz. Sammy DeLeon and George Salgado hit two-run homers for the Playaz. Richard Chavez went 3-for-3 for Dee’z.

D.A. Wolfe scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to upset Punishment Inc. 27-26. Ricky Gonzalez plated the winner with a sacrifice fly. Danny Rodriguez scored five Wolfe runs. Dustin Encalado drilled a single, double and triple for Punishment.

Jimmy Tomasetti’s RBI-single in the sixth inning earned Westwood Barbers a 5-4 win over the VFW Vets. Raul Gracia went 3-for-3 for the Barbers, Toby Reyes 3-for-3 for the Vets.
