Trail work day

Looking for a new way to celebrate this Valentine’s? You and a special someone can lend a hand to help keep the trails clear at Henry W. Coe State Park in Gilroy on Saturday. Arrive early and get in on the free coffee and donuts or bagels. Work begins at 8:30 a.m. and goes to 3 p.m. Bring a lunch, plenty of water and gloves. Valentine’s Day dinner for two

The tables will be set and the staff will be ready to serve you and your special someone a delicious Valentine’s meal. Increase your success in growing tomatoes and peppers at the Master Gardener’s Workshop from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gilroy Library. New varieties along with different ‘types’ will be discussed. Learn how correct planting methods, pest control, and irrigation can produce healthy and productive plants.
 

Learn about ’lectricity

Join Pacific Gas and Electric for a community open house to learn more about South County Power Connect, a proposed electric infrastructure project to increase electric reliability and help reduce the risk of local power outages in Gilroy, Morgan Hill and southern Santa Clara County. Members of PG&E’s project team will be available at the open house to discuss the project, including the potential transmission line corridors and the substation study area, answer questions and gather your feedback. Meeting is 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
