We will never forget…

Verne Ray Potter,

Lieutenant Commander U.S Coast Guard (Ret.), died June 7, 2005,in Modesto, California, of complications after heart

surgery. He was born June 11, 1929 in Kerman, California, and was the beloved husband of Ruth Eleanor Potter for 55 wonderful years. He was the son of the late Clyde and Mary Edna Potter of Kerman, California.

His generosity, good-humor, kindness, and energy are missed by his children, Mary Nowak, Kerry and Rebecca Hoskins, and Paul and Jeanette Bischoff; by his grandchildren, Tim, Amy, Jessica, Christopher, Dan, and Matthew; and his great-grandson, Fisher; by his brothers, James and Vic; by his sister Wilda;; and by his many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nephews, and nieces.

He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard for 21 years, and afterward was a successful sale representative and manager. After retiring, he continued to serve his community as a volunteer with the Merced, CA police department. He proudly attended the 1980 U.S.-Soviet hockey game in Lake Placid.

He taught us to enjoy life, be tough but fair in the workplace, and be tender- hearted in the home. A great light has gone out of our lives. A celebration of his life is planned for August 13, 2005, in Gilroy, California at the home of Paul and Jeanette Bischoff.
