Local BMX and skateboarding fans were treated to the third annual Extreme Youth event Saturday at the Gilroy Skate Park at Las Animas Veterans Park. A little more than 1,000 people attended the all-day festivities, which included skateboarding and BMX shows, live music and prizes, said event organizer Mark Tarasco of the Gilroy Police Department. Proceeds for the event helped cover the cost of the prizes, which included skateboard and bicycle parts for local young competitors, Tarasco said.
