Gilroy resident Virginia M. Torrez died on Tuesday, May 3 after
a lengthy illness.
Gilroy resident Virginia M. Torrez died on Tuesday, May 3 after a lengthy illness.

Prior to becoming a Gilroy resident in 1975, she lived in San Jose. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her other passion in life was bowling, for which she received many awards.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joseph P. Torrez; her son John R. Torrez and his wife Anita of Gilroy; granddaughters Janae Torrez-Battle of Los Angeles and Danielle R. Torrez of Gilroy; sisters Irene Lopez and her husband Fred of San Jose, and Annie Shrull of Gilroy; and many nieces and nephews. Her son Richard A. Torrez preceded her in death.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 11 beginning at 11:30am at Oak Hill Funeral Home, 300 Curtner Ave. in San Jose.
