GILROY – Valerie Smith Intero rallied past GC Farms 52-43 to remain alive in the Men’s Basketball League pennant chase Wednesday at Solorsano Gymnasium.
The Realtors completed the second half with a 5-1 mark. South Valley Disposal (5-0) faces first-half champion Team Techron Monday Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in the season finale. A loss by Disposal would send Disposal against Valerie Smith Intero at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 in a tie-breaker for the second-half title.
Mark Cisneros scored 11 points and Jake Smith added four field goals in the closing 20 minutes to lead the Valerie Smith Intero second-half response. Cisneros finished with 15 points, Smith 14 for the winners. Dennett took game scoring honors with 19 markers. Daniel Crowe helped the GC Farms cause with seven points. Cliff Dennett struck for 14 points in the first half as GC Farms (3-3) built a 27-20 advantage over Valerie Smith Intero.
Crunch Time powered past the Gilroy bulls 56-40 as Tucker Baksa worked inside for 25 Crunch points. Jason Wolowitz popped in three three-point field goals in an 11-point showing for the winners. Kyle Billups produced 10 Crunch points. Hector Salgado sped to 16 points, Steven Quistian 11 for the Gilroy Bulls (1-5).
Joe Wortham exploded for 14 points to pace Hard Ninety past the Warriors 53-44. Jose Hernandez contributed 11 points, Jesse Mejia 10 and Aaron Foster nine for Hard Ninety. Rich Hattaway’s pair of 3-pointers with three minutes left pulled Hard Ninety into a tie. Eric Smith led the Warrior offense with 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Adolfo Tellez added 12 Warrior points.
The Women’s League completes the regular season Monday. Gaeta’s Ballers can claim the season title with a win over Western Tree Nursery in the 8 p.m. contest. A loss by Gaeta’s would send Gaeta’s and Western Tree into a tie-breaker Wednesday at 8 p.m.
