Walter James Tarp, 82, died Oct. 22, 2003, in Santa Cruz.
He was born in Madrone on Oct. 13, 1921. He was the beloved husband to Betty for 38 years, warm and loving father of Terri Toste and her husband Pete of Sacramento and Jim Tarp and his wife Karen of Morgan Hill. He will be missed by his five grandchildren; Mike Toste and his wife Gail, Stefine Toste, Erik Tarp and his wife Wende, Prandy Montarbo and Danielle Tarp and his great grandchildren; Devon, Drew, River, Ryann, Morgan, Larry, Madison, Derrick and Devyn. He was a resident of La Posada in Santa Cruz and will be missed by many friends there.
Walt was a World War II veteran and loved the outdoors, spending many years fishing, hunting and camping. He loved spending time growing flowers and vegetables in his garden. He was a proud member of Local 38, the Masons and Eastern Star, San Martin Lions and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a good and honest man and was loved by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Masonic Temple at 380 West Dunne Ave. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
