Anchorpoint Christian’s Coastal Athletic League debut was a smashing success as the Warriors trounced York 25-3.

Danielle Payne pitched a five-hitter, striking out 10 and walking three. Payne also was 2 for 2 with three walks to lead the offense. Amy Sink and Jasmine Marozik collected two hits each, while Brittany Duyou, Kristy Osuna and Olivia Echeverria contributed to the victory as well.

“The girls have come a long way from last year, and the improvement is noticeable,” coach Anthony Contreras said. “It’s nice to see your team mold together as these girls have. To win our first league game is a milestone for Anchorpoint, as we are setting the foundation for this new softball program.”

Anchorpoint came back to beat Liberty 17-4 with Mikhaela Osuna pitching a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and two walks. Osuna also had a big day at the plate going 3 for 4 with a two-run home run and five RBIs. Chelsey Urbansky hit a two-run homer as well. Payne, Sink, Alexis Ahumad and Marozik all collected two hits.

In an inter-league tournament, the Warriors edged Anzar 4-3 with the Osuna sisters, Mikhaela and Kristy, getting the key hits. Payne pitched a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

The Warriors then split games, beating York and dropping their first game 2-1, to Calvary Chapel, fixing their record at 5-1.
