Gilroy hit a high of 93 degrees Wednesday and temperatures today are expected to creep into the low 90s. Expect temperatures to cool down just a bit heading into the weekend, with Friday, Saturday and Sunday scheduled to be in the mid- to high-80s. Since Monday, the California Independent System Operator has issued a daily warning predicting record-setting electricity usage statewide, but Wednesday was not as hot as predicted. “There is some high usage today, but it’s certainly no cause for concern,” PG&E spokesperson Jeff Smith said Wednesday. Extremely high power usage could require rolling blackouts statewide.
