Western Tree rallied past Williams Dental Lab 34-27 Monday as the Women’s Basketball League opened the 2007-8 season at Solorsano Gymnasium.

Melanie Corona and Brittney Trujillo each poured in 11 points to lead Western Tree. Corona accounted for half of the Tree’s 16 points in the first half as Williams Dental Lab created a 17-16 edge. Trujillo drained the team’s lone three-point field goal in the game early in the second half as Western Tree held the maintained the lead for the final 12 minutes.

Shante Mancera hit one 3-pointer while leading Williams Dental Lab with seven points. Christine Filice helped with six points.

Gaeta’s Ballers escaped with a 38-28 win over the Garlic Girls in the Gilroy Community Services Department program opener.

Laura Hennessee capped a 13-point explosion with a 3-point field goal for Gaeta’s. Lorraine Jones aided the Baller cause with six points. Lena Tabron netted 16 points from her forward position for the Garlic Girls. Wendy Filice followed with six points.

Valerie Smith Intero trimmed Bethany Community Church 37-30 in Men’s League play Wednesday at Solorsano Gym.

Daniel Fauss paced the Realtors with 14 points. Marcos Barbosa netted seven if his 11 points in the second half as Valerie Smith Intero erased a 17-16 intermission deficit.

Christian Cania scored eight points, and Alexis Rivas had seven for Bethany.

Rick Vasquez struck for 27 points to lift Beale Properties past GC Farms 62-34.

Mike Kachel delivered 16 points for Beale. Israel Gonzalez was good for nine points. Chad Bright tossed in 14 points and George Chiala and Vikranth Sunderraj each popped in two 3-pointers for GC Farms.

Phi Slamma Jamma earned a forfeit win over Morgan Hill Garage Door.
