Dear Editor,

I need someone explain the purpose of the “Things” (I don’t know what else to call them) that were recently constructed in the middle of Sunrise Drive. For those of you who have not driven Sunrise for a while, let me describe them.

In the middle of the street is a cement island with an attractive red brick pattern about the width of a car. On each side with space between for one car is a smaller island of the same construction. Between those and the curb is space for yet another car to pass. The curb at this point is painted red.

There are THREE SETS of these placed randomly along the street. What in the world can they be for? Who dreamt these up? And more importantly, how much did they cost and how many sidewalks could have been repaired for the same amount?
