DEAR EDITOR:

Wouldn’t it be wonderful!

I was watching the News Hour on PBS the other night and Clarence Page did an essay about hating. He mentioned that his mother used to say “There’s a little bit of good in the worst of us, a little bit of bad in the best. Look for the Good. Give the world your best, and the best will come back to you.”

That statement really made a big impression on me.

My mother died when I was an infant, so I don’t have any recollection of motherly sayings.

But, if there was one thing that I would have been proud to have my mother say was that very same statement. Those few words are truly monumental.

If Christianity would honestly and sincerely adapt that type of statement as a way of living, the entire world would be a much better place.
