Seaside on Wednesday night in Gilroy.
The Christopher High varsity wrestling team began its first Monterey Bay League dual meet of the season with four straight victories by fall and rode the electric start to a 66-16 win over Seaside on Wednesday night in Gilroy.

“They are a lot stronger and a lot more experienced this year,” CHS head coach Alexcis Lara said. “We have a good group of returners and a solid freshman class.”

Freshman Raul Meza (119), freshman Alex Felix (125), sophomore Ricardo Bribriescas (130)junior Andras Kabai (135) all earned six team-points for the Cougars.

Wrestling up in weight to fill a void at 189 pounds, sophomore Josh Aguilera pinned his opponent at the 1:07 mark of the first period.

The remainder of the Cougars’ points came via forfeit.

Aguilera will be Lara’s regular at 171-pounds when John Riffle is inserted back into the lineup. Riffle, a junior, is one of three returners, including heavyweight Steven White and Tomas Zamora, transitioning from the football season and expected to make their debuts next week.
