Tournament begins Friday with finals slated for 6 p.m. on
Saturday at Lemoore High School.
Jasmine Yanez and Megan Nebesnick practiced all week with the varsity wrestling team in preparation for this weekend’s California Interscholastic Federation Girls’ State Invitational in Lemoore.
It’s go-time now.
“They have been working hard, working on technique and maintaining weight,” GHS head coach Steven Hernandez said.
The girls last took the mat on Feb. 6 at the Central Coast Section girls championships.
Yanez, who is ranked No. 1 in the state at 108 pounds, won her second straight title at the section meet. Nebesnick, finished runner-up at 154 pounds to qualify for the state tournament.
“For both of them its about taking it one match at a time,” Hernandez said. “They won’t overlook anyone.”
The two-day event concludes with the championship matches at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
