Gilroy – The Young Writers’ Conference for students in grades 6-12 will be held from 8:30am to 1:30pm Saturday, at Solorsano Middle School.

The 2004 theme is “All Write, Already!” and students may choose any two workshops of the 10 being offered (four are slated as bilingual presentations).

How to create memorable characters, plots, and sensory details along with poetry and journal writing tips are some of the possibilities.

Lunch will be provided following the workshops, and an interactive address by guest author and creative writing professor, Maria Tabor of Salinas, is scheduled in the multi-purpose room for 12:15pm.

Parents are invited to attend this portion of the conference.

Cost is $5; checks are payable to the Margarita Contin Young Writers’ Fund, whose memory the conference honors.

Late registrations are being accepted.

For more information, check the conference link at www.gusd.k12.ca.us, or call Max and Juanita Contin at 847-1750, or email: mj******@****ic.com.
