Crews responding to a 3:30 a.m. vehicle blaze found two bodies inside after the fire was contained at about 4 a.m, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

CalFire alerted Sheriff’s deputies as part of it protocol, according to Sgt. Rick Sung.

“They looked inside the vehicle and found two bodies inside,” said Sung, adding there were no signs of a crash that caused the fire on the eastbound side of Highway 152.

Investigators arrived at the scene, a mile from the Santa Clara and Merced county line right before the Dinosaur Point Boat Launch Area, and are treating the deaths as suspicious, Sung said.

“At this point, both bodies have been claimed by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office,” said Sung at about noon Monday.

Sung said investigation is ongoing.
