Local musicians of all ages will take to the tree-lined streets of Gilroy for the second annual Porchfest Gilroy from 1 to 6 p.m. Sept. 19 on Hanna and Dowdy streets, between Third and Sixth.
Meet Karen Kondazian, author of “The Whip,” at 2 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Morgan Hill Library. “The Whip” is inspired by the true story of Charley Parkhurst, a famous stagecoach driver for during the California Gold Rush days who lived as a man. Kondazian is an award-winning stage, film and TV actress. For information call (408) 782-9029.
Bill and Lawana Clem, formerly of Gilroy, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary July 26. The couple married in San Martin in 1945 and raised their four children, Larry, Glenda, Marilyn and Bruce, in South Santa Clara County. Bill Clem, a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Force 303rd Bomb Group, worked as a carpenter for 16 years and later became building inspector for the City of Gilroy until his retirement. Lawana Clem worked for Gilroy Cannery for 39 years. The Clems retired to Oklahoma in 1989. They have six grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, two step-great-grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
Toys, musical instruments, crafts and books, and you get to wear your pajamas. That’s what’s in store for families attending the Gilroy library Pajama Storytime and Crafts sessions taking place every Monday evening at 7 p.m.
There will be a celebration of life for Robert Wood Sunday, August 23rd, 2015, at Kirigin Cellars, located at 3255 Day Road, Gilroy, CA 95020.
