A plan to slash the Gilroy school district’s energy bill dimmed slightly when officials discovered the price to repave the sprawling Gilroy High School parking lot will be more than expected.

Gilroy’s Waseem Rabih hopes Americans will take a good, fair look at the controversy surrounding Syrian refugees seeking asylum in the United States.

Daniel Harney, 40, was appointed by six City Council members on Jan. 25 to fill the vacancy left when Mayor Don Gage retired and Councilman Perry Woodward filled his seat. He was chosen over seven highly qualified applicants to serve for 10 months. Harney thinks he will run for election to the office for the following four years. He was sworn in and started to serve immediately after being appointed.

Three times Gilroy got out to big leads against Anzar, but the Hawks just wouldn’t go away.

Fresh off an outstanding performance at a tough Mid Cal Tournament, the Gilroy wrestling team kept the good times rolling with a dominate win at the Overfelt Classic over the weekend.

Thursday’s game between the two crosstown rivalry teams, Christopher and Gilroy High, ended in yet another victory for Christopher.
