Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter in response to the Public Notice I read in the newspaper regarding the remuneration and number of meetings the the Santa Clara Valley Water District Board of Directors would be allowed to attend per month at district expense.

Considering the high living standard in the Bay Area, the remuneration of $225 per meeting seems appropriate; however considering that the board generally meets only twice for the district agenda, it would be appropriate to limit the board members to five meetings per month including the two official meetings.

Any additional meetings that a board member would like to attend, should be at their own expense. When a board member attends a meeting it costs the district not only the payment of remuneration to the board member, but sometimes there are additional costs of travel and accommodation expense.

As a concerned taxpaying citizen, I would appreciate it if the board would conserve the public funds for better use.
