A Verizon inspector looks over lines hit by a ‘reach forklift’ that was extended to about 20 feet while being driven by an employee of Jones Brothers Construction. When the driver attempted to turn east onto Luchessa, the top of the lift caught the wires and broke the pole which also contained a power riser from underground PG&E lines to overhead lines. The power lines stayed suspended in the air with the top half of the pole, but power was knocked out to the area. Power in the area was restored within an hour and the damage was estimated at $10,000, according to PG&E electric troubleman Everett Knapp.
