Shoddy investigation?

The parents of a man who lost his life while driving himself and a friend to work about five years ago hold the Gilroy Police Department responsible for botching the investigation and allowing their son’s killer to roam free. But police and city officials uphold the original investigation, claiming it’s not the investigation that has them seething, but the outcome.

Gilroy Health Clinic

County health officials have approved nearly $60-million to make health services more accessible to South County residents.

On Tuesday, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors signed off on a bid to begin work on the Valley Health Clinic Gilroy, slated for construction in Southpoint Business Park on Arroyo Circle, just off Highway 101.

In 1990, Joe Duarte started his volunteer work, when his wife would ask him to help set up for the August Antique Brew Fest event, which consisted of street shows and many food and antique vendors. He also helps set up for the Father’s Day antique show every year. For his past 15 years of service, the Chamber of Commerce named him the 2005 Volunteer of the Year.

Efforts to improve care at the South Valley Animal Shelter are a step in the right direction but it won’t be enough if the cities of Gilroy and Morgan Hill don’t have contracts with the county to utilize the shelter’s services.
