Men’s EE

Gilroy – St. Mary Men’s Club took a 1-0 lead in the Men’s EE League Championship Series Thursday at Las Animas with a 22-14 victory over the SVCC Thumpers #1.

Greg Fernald went 5-for-5 and scored five runs to anchor the St. Mary Men’s Club offense. Scott Aldridge went 4-for-4 and Frank McGill drove in seven runs with three doubles.

The Thumpers exploded to a 10-0 in the top of the first inning, John Holder launching a double and home run, Mario Flores two doubles in the frame. Steve Conroy and Mario Flores each came up with four hits for the Thumpers.

Men’s CCC

Jimmy Tomasetti stroked five hits and scored four runs to key a 25-17 Jus 2 Party decision over Feather Haven Mill Thursday at Las Animas in the Men’s CCC opener.

Mitch Martinez and Andrew Gonzalez each scored four Party runs. Albert Alosi homered and Brett Scott went 4-for-5 for Feather Haven Mill.

The Hit Men struck for five runs in the first inning and held on to defeat Blackout Window Tinting 8-6 in the Men’s CCC opener at Christmas Hill Park.

Albert Sanchez clubbed a run-scoring double and scored on a two-run David Carroll double in the Hit Men first stanza. Mario Razo added a two-run double in the second inning. Sanchez singled and scored the final Hit Men run on a Jeff Stuck single in the sixth.

Frank Duran went 3-for-4 and Gary Barboa scored twice for Blackout Window Tinting.

Co-Rec B

Pacific Coast Bail Bonds trimmed Dequin’s Auto Body-Stubby’s Sports Bar Grill 14-10 in the Co-Rec B League opener Thursday at Las Animas.

Art Esquir homered, tripled and added two singles to the Pacific Coast offense. Richie Rodriquez homered for the winners. Bobby Reggiani went 4-for-4 and Chip Beardsley added two doubles and a single for Dequin’s-Stubby’s.

Co-Rec C

Mark Terrill and Jim Sands each homered in a 16-1 Cary O’Neal Roofing Co-Rec C League nod over Dee’z Nutz & Cherriez Thursday at Christmas Hill.

K. C. Adams went 3-for-3 for the winners. Will Lawrence tripled for the Nutz.

Men’s E

Brian Sleeper went 3-for-3 to lead Campbell’s Towing past the Titans 5-4 in the Men’s E opener Thursday at Christmas Hill, Jesse Rawlins provided a triple and double, scoring twice for the Towers. Steve Welch went 3-for-3 with two RBI for the Titans.

Ray Garcia scored three runs and Sands doubled, tripled and homered to lift California Silk Screening by Las Animas Sweepers 10-6 in the Men’s CC opener. Gabe Duenas singled and doubled, scoring two Sweeper runs.

Men’s DD

Louie & the Outlaws opened the Men’s DD League Championship Series with a 17-16 comeback victory over Trevino Brothers Construction Wednesday at Las Animas Park.

Trevino Brothers Construction entered the seventh inning down 14-11. The Builders responded with five consecutive one-out hits to produce five runs for a 16-14 advantage. Chase Locsin ignited the rally with a triple. Jeff Dougherty gave Trevino Brothers the lead with an RBI-double.

Louie & the Outlaws retaliated with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Two walks and singles from Isaiah Gonzalez and Josh Gonzalez tied the score. John Hernandez singled home the winning marker.

Isaiah Gonzalez went 4-for-4 with a home run. Chris Vigilante and Matt Tate delivered home runs and John O’Neill added four singles to the Trevino Brothers attack.

WoMen’s B

Williams Dental Lab rallied past Stubby’s Girls 7-4 in the Women’s B League opener Wednesday at Las Animas.

Gail Corzo and Cherie Somavia each doubled in the first inning as Williams Dental grabbed a 3-0 lead. Stubby’s scored single runs in the first and second and two in the third on a D.J. Simpson double to build a 4-3 lead.

Somavia opened a three-run Williams sixth with a single. Melissa Wilson, Anna Reyes and Jenny Szyndrowski roped consecutive one-out singles. Corzo doubled and scored on a Maureen Hughes single in the Williams seventh.

WoMen’s C

Brenda Maquinalez came off the bench to go 3-for-3 and spark Kay’s Kids to a 10-5 Women’s C League win over Image & Design Salon & Day Spa-Guy’s Heating Wednesday at Las Animas.

Vanessa Gallardo stroked a two-run single and Barb Lemberger scored two runs as Image built a 5-2 lead.

Kay’s Kids took a 7-5 lead with four runs in the fifth inning. Vicki Groppe keyed the rally with a two-run single. Stephenie Johnston opened a three-run Kay’s sixth with a single. Maquinalez lined an RBI-single in both scoring frames.

Johnston scored three runs and Eva Neibel provided a double and two singles for Kay’s Kids. Grace Gonzalez bashed an RBI-triple for Image & Design-Guy’s.
