Hi, I would like to say kudos to the 7500 block of Princevalle.
Their lighted candy cane walkways are truly festive and add a
certain holiday pizzazz to the area. Along with the 10,000 trees
dressed up on Fifth Street … oh, wait, the 10,000 trees are out
on Santa Teresa, I forgot. I mean, the 62 street trees with the big
bows along Fifth show our colorful neighborhood spirit. Keep
deckin’ those halls, Gilroy!

Decorations galore!
“Merry Christmas, Red Phone. You guys at the Dispatch do a great job, so thank you. I’m calling because I wanted to say thanks to all those festive families who decked their homes out throughout Gilroy. With the little map you put in the paper for the house that entered the contest, my family and I drove all around, checking out those beautiful homes. Some of them were gaudy, but we don’t think you can have too much of that during Christmas. The Grinch house is great and I personally really liked the house down on Monterey that is very elegantly done. Just lovely. Good job, Gilroy. Thanks and holiday to all.”

“I just want to make a comment on the article Christine Tognetti wrote in the Dispatch last Friday about sending her husband’s Christmas goodies to Iraq and the old man behind her at the post office told her that he was over there killing people. Doesn’t that old fool realize he is fighting for our freedom? He should apologize to her. He hurt her feelings. He should read the e-mail her husband sent from Iraq saying how glad the people are that we are there. Thank you.”

Again, it agrees 110 percent. Sometimes people can be incredibly insensitive.
Really in need?
“Red Phone, I just saw your Wednesday edition on the ‘Christmas Angels’ story. I thought the story was fantastic, really in the spirit of holiday giving and such. I’m all for donating to those less fortunate, but I have to point out something I noticed in the big photo on the front page. Here are these wonderful volunteers bringing gifts and clothes and I even noticed boxes of food, macaroni and cheese I think, and God bless them for stepping up and helping out those in need. But did anyone else notice the television that family had? I say if they’re short on cash and can’t afford clothes for their children, if they’re in need of food, maybe they shouldn’t have spent their money on a massive big-screen TV. I don’t know a whole lot of people who are financially stable who have a TV like that. The volunteers are amazing, but that struck me as really odd. Thank you.”

It also noticed, caller, but in the spirit of the holidays, the Red Phone won’t judge. Instead, it offers an ovation to those who step forward and help those in need.
