School and council communicating?
“I would like to know why the school district and the city council do not talk to each other regarding how many houses are being built and the lack of room in the schools. It’s ridiculous that the city keeps allowing homes to be built, huge homes to be built and there’s not enough room for the children in the schools that are here now. I think they need to get together because I keep reading all these articles, they went over 30 percent of the population growth, well that again affects the schools that are already filled to the max. That’s just ridiculous that they don’t talk to each other and I would like to know why they don’t.”
Red Phone:
Caller, you have a point, and are thinking about a topic that is important and should be addressed. After contacting assistant superintendent for the district Steve Brinkman he said the district is spending, and has spent a large extent of time with the city on this subject.
“That call is for a lengthy discussion. It’s a long and complex history and we are trying to do as much as we can. There is a process the city is going through right now, which is re-writing the Residential Development Ordinance. It’s a competitive process, and is the basis of approving new development and they are revising that.”
Brinkman assured Red Phone that the school district is trying to make its voice heard on the revision of the RDO and he thinks the city is listening. He added that approval of new development in conjunction with the school district is a horribly complicated subject. So caller, it seems as if the city and the district are communicating.
retribution at happy dog
“I just wanted to find out what ever happened to the problem with the Happy Dog. I wanted to know what happened to those young men who made all that racket over at the Happy Dog Pizza, which is a nice place to eat for families, and if these guys did something wrong they should be punished for what they did. I want to know if there is going to be an article that is going to follow that. I live in Gilroy and I take my kids to Happy Pizza and we’ve always liked that place but since it happened, we just don’t feel comfortable going but we’d like to find out closure on what happened, thank you.”
Red Phone:
Good caller, here is an update on progress with this incident thus far, one suspect, Joel Gaeta, had a preliminary examination scheduled for Friday, according to district attorney Amir Alem. The examination was rescheduled for Oct. 27 at 9am. The district attorney has thus far declined to file on George Castro, Juan Perez and Gilbert Garcia, who also were arrested on suspicion of attacking the agents.
As for penalties facing Happy Dog Pizza, the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is still investigating, said public information officer John Carr, and there is no expected date for it to be completed. The investigation will yield a report, which will be sent from the district office to ABC’s headquarters. ABC will review the report and decide what disciplinary action, if any, to take against Happy Dog Pizza. Possible penalties range from a letter of warning to license revocation.
So caller, retribution will eventually occur, as far as what kind and the degree, that’s up to the officials handling the case. Watch the Dispatch for further coverage of the outcome after aforementioned dates have passed, in any event there is an update but no closure yet.
