Plata, Llamas score goals to lead Mustangs in first round of
Homestead Christmas Cup
SUNNYVALE – The Gilroy High boys soccer team’s unbeaten streak continued in Saturday’s first round of the Homestead Christmas Cup as the Mustangs edged Sequoias by a 2-1 margin.

Gilroy – which has two wins and two ties to start the season – got on the board with a strike from senior striker Jorge Plata off a feed from teammate Juan Llamas.

The Mustangs’ second strike was put in by Llamas off an assist from senior teammate Javier Hernandez.

Gilroy will play in the second round on Saturday at Homestead High School in Sunnyvale.
