Williams nets 25 points to lead way in 82-74 win.
GILROY – Gaeta’s claimed the Men’s D League basketball title Tuesday with an 82-74 edging of Fritter-Schulz Physical Therapy in Gilroy Community Services Department play at South Valley.

Marmet Williams delivered 25 points as Gaeta’s secured both halves of the 12-game D League campaign. Fritter-Schulz and Morgan Hill Garage Door will play Tuesday Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. to determine the second-place award winner.

Nathan Sanders scored 16 points and David Herrera added 15 as Gaeta’s repelled the Therapist upset bid.Gabe Gonzales hit four three-point field goals in a 24-point effort in the second half for Fritter-Schulz, finishing with 28 markers. Josh Carter scored 20 points and A.J. Matthews poured in 12 for the Therapists.

Rob Silvia scored 20 points and Josh Ehle scored 10 to help Dutchman’s Pizza-Krazy Koyote past Headstart 48-39 in D action. Don Hall struck for 15 points, Bob Lemmon 10 for Headstart Nursery.

Jacob Garcia scored 16 points and Darren Owens added 12 as Morgan Hill Garage Door prepped for Tuesday’s tie-breaker by downing Handmade Healthcare 59-38. Britt Bigelow tallied 11 points, Nick Posley 10 for Handmade.

Above The Rim earned the Women’s League title Wednesday with a 28-15 nod over Togo’s at South Valley. Rim finished the second half at 5-1, while Williams Dental Lab lost a 36-32 decision to Krazy Koyote-Dutchman’s Pizza and completed the half at 4-2.

Jeanna Lyon keyed the Rin offense with eight points. Mel Ponzio paced Togo’s with six points.

Emelia Flores banked in two 3-pointers in the second half to highlight the Koyote-Dutchman’s upset of Williams Dental Lab. Cherie Somavia, Maureen Hughes and Susie Clark each scored eight points for Williams.

Pizza N Stuff-Toto Stingers powered past Mitchell Excavation 84-27 Thursday to secure the second-half Men’s E League title with a 6-0 record.

The Stingers will face first-half titlist Handmade Healthcare in the best 2-of-3 Championship Series starting on Tuesday Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. at South Valley. The second game of the playoffs will be Wednesday Feb. 19 at 8 p.m., with a third game, if needed, Thursday at 8 p.m.

Rudy Mirelez and Andres Espinosa each scored 14 points for the Stingers. Roger Hernandez scored nine points for Mitchell.

Rocha’s Drywall slipped to 5-1 and out of the title picture with a 48-46 overtime loss to Net Magic. Javier Armenta scored 13 points after the intermission and Tony Maquinalez drained three 3-pointers for 5-1 Net Magic. Bryce Hall scored 15 points, Jose Maciel 11 and Michael Rocha 10 for Rocha’s Drywall.

Al Gallegos scored 17 points and Austin Romesberg added 13 as Stuft Pizza defeated the Playaz 52-47. Paul Garcia anchored ther Playaz offense with 19 points. Eddie DeLeon followed with 13 points.
