Hernandez has four-RBI night to anchor 20-19 victory
GILROY – J.R. Hernandez crushed a home run, double and single in a four-RBI night as the Gilroy Clippers opened second-half play in the Men’s C League with a 20-19 edging of the Red Dogs Monday at Gavilan Sports Park.
Daniel Landeros spiced a three-RBI effort with a solo homer and Dave Cummings went 3-for-4 with a homer as the Clippers made a successful debut in the seven-team league. Joe Ojeda went 3-for-4 and scored three Clipper runns. Emilio Vargas went 5-for-5, Everett Wallace 4-for-5 for the Red Dogz. Carlos Naranjo and George Salgado lined Dogz homers.
Shawn Tinsley went 5-for-5 and Abe Espenola stroked a three-run homer to lead AAA Courier Poor Boys past Humboldt Brewing 25-11. Casey Boyd went 2-for-3 and drove in three Humboldt runs.
Chris Hernandez drilled a two-run home run to help VFW Vets to a 12-11 decision over Kenko Pipelayers. Scott Perkins and Kevin Orosco hit Kenko home runs.
Rick Trujillo went 6-for-6 as Guy’s Heating opened the second half of the Men’s CC League with a 30-10 decision over Countryside Preschool Monday at Christmas Hill Park. Tony Estrada and Dan Gavrity hit homers in the Guy’s fourth frame. Kris Ferguson singled and doubled for Countryside, the first-half CCC League champion.
Ben Duyao and Mike Hernandez each went 3-for-3 to help Krazy Koyotes-Dutchman’s Pizza to a 14-2 victory over Dee’s Nuts. Dave Perez and Pascual Cid hit triples for Dee’s.
Chuck Rodgers went 4-for-4 and scored five runs as Los Gatos Capital defeated Las Animas Sweepers 16-13 in Men’s CCC play Monday at Las Animas Park. Rob Paterson and Mike Mendoza each hit a double and two singles, while Greg Cirameli homered for the winners. Johnathan Johnson went 4-for-5 and Jason Thomas homered in a three-hit night for the Sweepers.
Handmade Healthcare, the first-half D titlist, topped AJ’s Boys 15-6 behind four singles by Cesar Lopez. T.J. Dickens hit a triple, double, single and sacrifice fly for the winners. Johnny Perez hit a homer for AJ’s Boys.
Joe McCrillis went 3-for-4 and scored four runs Sunday as Covenant topped Bay Sheets 23-4 in the Men’s DDD opener at Las Animas. Phil Tercero hit a three-run homer for the winners. Will Reed went 3-for-3 for Bay Sheets.
John Jimenez went 5-for-5 with a homer to key a 25-5 Victory Outreach decision over the Plunderers. Ralph Ortiz hit a home run, double and two singles for Victory Outreach. Mike Layman went 2-for-2 for the Plunderers.
