Gilroy’s Avilla has another strong showing at ‘Flip Into Fall’

SUNNYVALE – Level 4 gymnasts from USA Sport Connection in Hollister brought home even more awards – this time coming out of Sunnyvale’s ‘Flip into Fall’ on Oct. 4.
In their third-ever competition, the local tumblers finished in the top 40 percent of the age group in which they participated in.
Gilroy’s Lise Avilla continued her success in the 7- to 8-year old age group by placing fourth on vault, fifth on her floor exercise and sixth on the balance beam.
Teammates Emily Rianda, on balance beam, Taylor Lawrence, on the uneven bars, and Jacquelynn Fisher, on vault, all finished in fifth place in their events.
In the 11-and-over age divison, Hollister’s Alysia Brown placed third on the uneven bars and Jessica Meade scored third on vault as well as fourth on her floor exercise.
The girls are looking forward to their next opportunity to shine at Marin’s ‘Tumble in the Jungle’ meet scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 12.
