GILROY – Sign up for Gilroy Little League’s 2004 season today from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sign-ups will be held at Las Animas Park in the recreation room.

Boys and girls from the Gilroy and Morgan Hill area must be at least 5 years old by March 1 and no older than 15 by July 31 to participate. New players must also supply a non-returnable copy of their birth certificate. Teams will be formed based on those signed up by Dec. 31, those signed-up afterward will be put on a waiting list.

Registration is $60 for T-ball (ages 5 to 7), $80 for Little League (ages 7 to 12) and $90 for juniors and seniors (ages 13 to 15). A late registration fee of $15 will apply to those signed up after Dec. 31. Scholarship and financial assistance is available.

Food drive Saturday

GILROY – Dr. Robert Kovacs and the staff at Gilroy Chiropractic Center, in conjunction with Safeway and the U. S. Army Recruiting Office, will host a food drive on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in front of Safeway, 905 First St. The non-perishable food items that are collected will be donated to the Older Adult Program at Wheeler Manor.

Rent-a-Caroler reservations

GILROY – It’s that times of the year again – the Gilroy High School Chamber Singers are open for business. Members of the choir are available as carolers. Rent them for home or office parties, family gatherings, seasonal dinners or any type of holiday celebration.

All proceeds are tax -deductible and will be used to help send the choir to Germany in April.

Gilroy veterans tribute

GILROY – The fifth annual Gilroy Veterans video tribute, presented by the City of Gilroy, will be broadcast on Cable Channel 17 through the Christmas holidays.

This one-hour program features photos of more than 300 Gilroy military veterans.The program will be shown daily at 10 a.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., unless pre-empted by a scheduled city meeting broadcast.

Holiday helping hands needed

GILROY – The Salvation Army needs volunteer help for the holiday season. Volunteers are needed to:

Dine back in time

GILROY – The Exchange Club of Gilroy presents a big-band dinner dance and auction on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 6:30 p.m. to midnight, at the Historic Strand Theater, 7588 Monterey St.

Enjoy an elegant 1930s supper-club experience featuring the South Bay Swing Band. Tickets are $30, by reservation only. Ticket includes dinner and entertainment.

No-host cocktails will feature ’30s-era classic drinks. All proceeds from this fund raiser will benefit prevention of child abuse and other community needs.

Come to the Gavilan Community College Library and try its state-of-the-art electronic databases. Find magazine or newspaper articles from its periodical collection. With a photo I.D., you can even check out books from its circulating collection. The library is located at the center of the Gavilan College Gilroy Campus at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd.
