Maria Pura Segovia de Bustamante passed away in Gilroy Jan. 22, 2003 after a short illness. She was 90 years old.

Mrs. Bustamante was born Aug. 11, 1912 in Durango, Mexico. Her husband Salvador Bustamante preceded her in death. She is the mother of Libe and her husband Jesus Alvarez of Juarez, Mexico, Palemon and his wife Delia Bustamante of Durango, Arnulfo and his wife Elida Bustamante of Durango, Jesus and his wife Graciela Bustamante of Gilroy, Tomas and his wife Gloria Bustamante of Los Banos, and Olga and her husband David Gallardo of Gilroy. She was the loving grandmother of 28 including Rosemary Bustamante, Martha Lopez, Tom Bustamante, Rafael Bustamante, Patricia Eafrati, Hector Gallardo and Mario Gallardo all of Gilroy; great grandmother of 60; and great-great grandmother of one. Also survived by many nieces and nephews including Jose Medina, Alice Medina, Joe Villa all of Gilroy, Esparanza Alonzo of Los Angeles and Isabel Segovia Lopez of Hollister.

Mrs. Bustamante enjoyed walking everywhere she went in town. Her family and cooking were her greatest pleasures. She was a member of St. Mary Church.

Vigil Service will be Sunday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin Monday, Jan. 27 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and then proceed to St. Mary Church for a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Gilroy.
