A private family ceremony has been held for Arthur “Art” J. Scott, a native of Royal Oak, Mich., who passed away in Los Altos on Monday, April 28, 2003. He was 42.
Art was raised in Michigan, Ohio and Arizona. During his formative years, he was pivotal in the building of the family cabin and continued in construction. After being blown out of a mine shaft and caught by an auger of a pile driver, he changed careers. In 1987, he became a Realtor and in his first five months received the “million dollar” sales award. In 1988, he rose to the rank of top producer of the year. Art was known for his inspirational talks, cold-calling techniques and ability “to close.” Art has been heard to say on a number of occasions, “A ‘no’ is that much closer to a ‘yes.'”
Art married Eva Jaso in 1990, and was the loving father of their two boys Arthur John and Gabriel James. Art was the mischievous son of George Edwin Scott (deceased) and Genevieve Nellie Babuska. He was the delightful brother of Maria Keffer, Deb Scott, Peg Scott, Cecilia Deatherage, and Matt Scott. Art was the spirited brother-in-law to Gerry Keffer; Ralph Deatherage; Shelly Scott; Susanne and Frank Pantoja; Greg and Stephanie Jaso; and, Adam and Sherri Jaso. Art was the “cool” uncle of Anne Marie Jones; Greg Keffer; Margaret Bearman; Ben and Luke Engelby; William and Robert Durazzo; Elijah, Matthew, Samuel, and Eden Deatherage; Tanner, Madeline, and Jocelyn Scott; Lorenzo and Ariana Jaso; and, Adam, Joel, Jessica, Rachel, Leah and Hanna Jaso.
Family would appreciate donations in his name to: The Scholastic Fund for the Scott Children at St. Simon Catholic Church, 1860 Grant Ave. Los Altos, CA 94024 or your favorite charity. Arrangements by Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. Art will be terribly missed. “See you at the top!”
