MORGAN HILL – A seventh-grade male student at Britton Middle School was suspended Wednesday after students in his class observed a pellet gun in his backpack.

“There was no gas container on the gun, however because it resembled a gun, we will proceed with suspension and then investigation of the incident,” Superintendent Carolyn McKennan said Thursday.

The 13-year-old San Martin resident was issued a juvenile contact citation and released to his father.

Other students were in no danger at any time during the incident, McKennan said. Police officers were called to the school, and the student and the pellet gun were removed from the campus.
